Gigamon and Zscaler join forces on Zero Trust Network Access

Gigamon has announced a new integration with Zscaler designed to enhance Zero Trust architectures with deeper visibility into application and network activity.

The joint solution integrates Zscaler Private Access (ZPA) with Gigamon’s Application Metadata Intelligence (AMI), enabling security teams to correlate identity-driven access controls with high-fidelity network telemetry. The result is improved detection of lateral movement, stronger policy validation, and faster incident response across hybrid cloud environments.

As organisations adopt Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) to replace legacy VPNs, visibility into post-access activity has emerged as a key security gap. While ZTNA enforces strict access controls, it does not inherently provide insight into user behaviour once inside an application environment. This integration addresses that limitation by delivering detailed observability into application interactions and East-West traffic.

Gigamon AMI enhances visibility by extracting thousands of metadata attributes from network traffic, including SSL certificate details, DNS queries, application behaviour indicators, and latency metrics. When combined with traffic from Zscaler App Connectors, security teams gain deeper insight into internal communications that are typically obscured within encrypted environments.

This enriched telemetry can be fed into existing security operations workflows, including SIEM and NDR platforms, allowing teams to accelerate investigations and improve threat detection accuracy. By linking user identity with application-level activity, organisations can better understand both the context and intent behind network interactions.

The integration also supports validation of least-privilege access policies, helping organisations ensure Zero Trust principles are consistently enforced across dynamic hybrid environments.

With visibility cited as a leading challenge for security teams, the combined capabilities of Gigamon and Zscaler aim to reduce blind spots and strengthen overall security posture.
