Milestone Systems has unveiled new enhancements across XProtect 2025 R3 and the Arcules cloud platform, signalling a decisive shift toward proactive, integrated and more intelligence-driven security operations.
For years, security teams have struggled with reactive workflows — finding out about system failures only after cameras went down or footage was lost. The latest XProtect updates directly address that concern. XProtect Remote Manager now gives security operators deeper oversight of system health across cameras, servers and sites, allowing issues like full databases or failing hardware to be detected and resolved before they disrupt operations.
Centralising this visibility not only improves uptime but reduces the need for technicians to travel onsite, which is a significant cost burden for distributed enterprises such as retail chains or campuses.

Milestone is also modernising how physical and logical security converge. New role-based access control permissions enable access control systems to be managed directly inside XProtect, eliminating system switching and improving response speed when verifying alarms and credential-based events.
On the cloud-first side, Arcules is receiving major updates engineered for faster investigations and stronger detection accuracy. Multi-Camera Forensic Video Search streamlines the time-intensive investigative process by enabling simultaneous search across multiple angles and devices. Meanwhile, dual-layer motion detection ensures greater reliability by combining cloud analytics with on-camera triggers — reducing the chance of missed incidents.
Expanded camera compatibility now allows organisations to deploy more affordable devices without sacrificing cloud functionality. And external case sharing makes it possible to grant secure, time-limited access to evidence for law enforcement or third-party partners, all without additional accounts.
Together, these enhancements reinforce Milestone’s open-platform strategy, giving organisations more tools to stay ahead of threats while simplifying how video systems are deployed, governed and supported.
