Commvault has announced the general availability of Clumio Backtrack for Amazon DynamoDB, introducing a breakthrough in cloud-native database recovery. The new offering enables organisations to roll back DynamoDB tables to a prior point in time almost instantly, eliminating the need for lengthy, resource-heavy restore processes.
DynamoDB, Amazon’s high-scale NoSQL database, is a cornerstone for cloud-first teams powering e-commerce platforms, AI-driven services, and real-time personalisation engines. However, its complex table structures, often consisting of billions of records and multiple partitions, have traditionally made granular recovery a costly and time-consuming challenge.
“Clumio Backtrack removes the friction and risk from database recovery,” said Woon Jung, Chief Technology Officer, Cloud Native at Commvault. “Now, teams can roll back or restore their data in minutes, not days, and without complex, multi-step manual recoveries.”
Unlike native backup options, which typically require restoring entire tables to new environments, Clumio Backtrack allows teams to recover only the affected partitions, significantly reducing downtime and operational costs. Combined with an “incremental forever” backup model, the new capability also promises to lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
IDC’s Archana Venkatraman described the development as a “significant advancement in point-in-time recovery for DynamoDB,” especially for AI-driven and latency-sensitive applications where resilience and availability are critical.
Clumio Backtrack for DynamoDB follows the company’s earlier launch of Clumio Backtrack for Amazon S3 and is now globally available via the AWS Marketplace on a consumption-based pricing model.
