Tackling the surge in Web DDoS attacks and preparing for DORA compliance
Radware® (NASDAQ: RDWR), a global leader in application security and multi-cloud delivery solutions, has expanded its partnership with one of Italy’s top five banks. Under the renewed agreement, the bank will implement Radware’s comprehensive suite of cybersecurity and application delivery solutions, including Cloud Application Protection, Cloud DDoS Protection Services, and the Alteon® application delivery controller equipped with Radware’s Global Elastic License (GEL).
The multi-channel bank serves a diverse clientele with private and corporate banking, loans, e-banking, and investment services. Faced with escalating Web DDoS Tsunami attacks—an aggressive type of HTTPS Flood targeting web applications and APIs—the institution sought enhanced protection for its critical infrastructure and applications. According to Radware’s H1 2024 Global Threat Analysis Report, Web DDoS attacks surged by 265% globally in the first half of 2024 compared to the latter half of 2023.
Additionally, the bank’s cybersecurity upgrades are aligned with the upcoming enforcement of the European Union’s Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). Effective January 17, 2025, DORA mandates financial institutions and their third-party providers to strengthen their cybersecurity and operational frameworks.
“The dual challenge of regulatory compliance and rising cyber threats is pushing financial institutions to fortify their defenses,” said Yoav Gazelle, Radware’s Chief Business Officer. “By adopting AI-driven solutions, organizations can enhance operational resilience and proactively address evolving risks.”

Radware’s Cloud Application Protection Services deliver robust security for applications through a combination of:

The platform leverages AI-driven automation and behavioral-based detection, backed by 24/7 managed services to ensure optimal protection with minimal false positives.
The Alteon application delivery controller, integrated with Radware’s GEL, offers seamless application security, addressing vulnerabilities such as OWASP threats, bad bots, zero-day exploits, and API attacks. GEL allows organizations to flexibly allocate security resources across private and public cloud environments without additional capital investment.
