Milestone Systems has unveiled a major update to its XProtect video management platform and Arcules cloud video surveillance offering, introducing new reporting, management and cloud storage capabilities designed to help organisations derive greater value from their security investments.
The release of XProtect 2026 R1 and the latest Arcules enhancements reflects a broader industry shift, with physical security teams increasingly expected to demonstrate operational value, support compliance requirements and deliver measurable business outcomes beyond traditional surveillance functions.
Central to the announcement is an expanded version of XProtect Remote Manager, a browser-based management platform available to Milestone Care Plus customers. The update introduces customisable and scheduled reporting capabilities that automatically transform technical system data into visual reports tailored for security teams, executives, service providers and end customers.
According to Milestone, the new functionality addresses a longstanding challenge for security operators, who often spend considerable time manually gathering and interpreting system information before presenting it to business stakeholders. By automating this process, organisations can focus more on proactive management and optimisation of their security environments.

The reporting enhancements are expected to deliver benefits across the security ecosystem, enabling administrators to reduce manual workloads, providing business leaders with clearer visibility into system performance and compliance, and helping integrators and managed service providers demonstrate the value of ongoing services.
Beyond reporting, XProtect 2026 R1 introduces a redesigned Log Server featuring centralised visibility of system logs, improved filtering and notification capabilities, and more streamlined troubleshooting workflows. The update also includes improvements to the XProtect Mobile Client and expands device compatibility to more than 16,300 verified devices, including 181 newly supported models from 15 technology partners.
On the cloud side, Milestone has continued to expand the capabilities of its Arcules Video Surveillance-as-a-Service (VSaaS) platform.
The latest enhancements extend camera-to-cloud support to additional camera models, including Axis multi-sensor cameras and supported i-PRO devices. The capability allows organisations to connect cameras directly to the cloud without requiring on-premises servers or gateways, simplifying deployment and reducing infrastructure complexity.
Arcules also now supports long-term cloud video storage, enabling organisations to securely archive footage for extended periods while maintaining searchability and accessibility. The feature is designed to help customers meet compliance, investigative and operational requirements without managing physical storage infrastructure.
Additional updates include a new WebSocket-based PTZ API for faster camera control and integration with automated workflows, as well as mobile alert thumbnails for iOS devices that provide operators with visual context alongside security notifications.
The release highlights the growing convergence of physical security, operational intelligence and cloud technologies, as organisations increasingly seek flexible deployment models that can support both traditional on-premises environments and modern cloud-based architectures.
