Google has completed its acquisition of cloud security platform Wiz, marking one of the most significant moves in the rapidly evolving cloud security market as organisations accelerate their adoption of multicloud infrastructure and artificial intelligence.
The New York-headquartered security company will join Google Cloud but will continue operating under the Wiz brand, maintaining its commitment to securing customers across multiple cloud environments including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Cloud and Google Cloud itself.
The deal reflects growing pressure on organisations to secure increasingly complex cloud environments, particularly as AI adoption expands and attackers begin using AI to accelerate and automate cyber-attacks.
Security for the multicloud and AI era
Cloud environments have become the backbone of modern digital infrastructure, supporting everything from enterprise applications to national critical systems. At the same time, organisations are increasingly operating across multiple cloud providers, creating a complex security landscape that traditional tools often struggle to monitor effectively.

According to the company, the combined platform will enable organisations to detect, prevent and respond to threats more quickly while also addressing emerging security risks associated with artificial intelligence.
This includes identifying threats created using AI tools, protecting AI models from compromise, and using AI-driven analysis to help security teams identify suspicious behaviour and potential breaches.
AI accelerating both innovation and cyber threats
The acquisition also highlights a broader shift in cybersecurity dynamics as AI transforms both defensive and offensive capabilities.
As businesses and governments increasingly rely on AI-driven software development and automation, attackers are also leveraging AI to increase the speed and sophistication of their campaigns.
Google CEO Sundar Pichai said securing cloud environments has become a core priority as organisations move critical workloads into digital infrastructure and deploy generative AI technologies.

“With this acquisition, we will deliver a unified security platform that simplifies the complex task of protecting multicloud environments in the AI era.”
The combined capabilities will provide organisations with a consistent set of security tools, policies and processes across cloud infrastructure, applications and development environments.
Google said the platform will also help organisations scale security operations while reducing the cost and complexity associated with managing multiple security tools.
For security teams facing growing skills shortages, increased automation and AI-driven threat detection could also improve operational efficiency.
Commitment to multicloud openness
Despite joining Google Cloud, Wiz will maintain its open and multicloud approach — a factor that has been key to its rapid growth in the cloud security market.

Google confirmed that Wiz products will continue to work across other major cloud providers and will remain available through partner ecosystems and marketplaces.
